    Parental Rights upon Their Children

    Parental Rights upon Their Children

Parental rights is very important, because our parents who take care of us since childhood, raise and educate us with great affection. Islam very concerns about the family, Islam emphasizes the love and respect within the family. Mother and father are the foundation of a family. Therefore, doing good to parents is one of the most important act and the most loved by Allah the almighty.

Children must fulfill the rights of parents by obeying and respecting them, be humble to them, doing good to them, provide livelihood, praying for them, and respect for their relatives. Allah said in the Holly Qur'an "And your lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. and that you be dutiful to your parents. if one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honor" (Al-Isro verse 23)

Dutiful to parents is also an act loved by God Almighty. Ibnu Abbas Rodiallahu Anhu asked to the prophet of Allah peace be upon him "What charity is loved by Allah?" Prophet answered "Sholat (prayer) just in time" Ibn Abbas then asked again "then what?" prophet answered "devoting to both parents". "then what else ?" "Struggling to establish the religion of Allah". (Hadith Bukhori Muslim)
